Aspyn turns 1!!

We did it!! I can't believe a year has gone by since we welcomed our sweet baby girl into this world..FASTEST. YEAR. EVER!! I guess time really does fly when you're having fun :) Leading up to her 1st birthday my emotions have been somewhat of a roller coaster. One minute I am SO excited I can't contain myself because it will be her first birthday and she is just growing so fast and is so dang cute and then the next minute I am dreading her birthday and just get all depressed because my baby will soon become a toddler and will be talking and walking and want to be more independent etc :( and my emotions just continue on that up and down.

Since we have been back from Hawaii we have been kept pretty busy with the prepping of Aspyn's 1st birthday party and we absolutely could not have done it without all those who helped, especially my parents and younger sister. When your baby turns one it is a pretty big deal, it means that you and your spouse survived the 1st year of being parents and that you have nurtured a little human for a whole year and you are all alive and well! That is a pretty big accomplishment if you ask me and definitely calls for a big celebration! We have been blessed with such an easy going baby with a great disposition so we really don't have anything to complain about at all.

I thought a Dr. Seuss themed party would be fun to plan so that is exactly what we did and it was a success :) There were a few hiccups along the way but we were very pleased with the way everything turned out, it was perfect! For lunch we had Kalua pig, teriyaki chicken, rice, potato salad, bowtie spinach Asian salad, fruit and veggie tray with water and Caprisun to drink. Dessert was delicious we had a soft serve ice cream machine, Mudslide and Lemon Bar cookies and chocolate mint brownies from BYU catering and cupcakes that my Mom and Sister made. Cakes by Kathy made the AMAZING birthday cake, all of the little details was exactly how I wanted them. Aspyn's smash cake was strawberry cake with buttercream frosting and the 3 tiered cake had a top layer of white chocolate raspberry, middle layer of chocolate hazelnut and a bottom layer of dulce de leche. We had a bounce house, an amazing balloon artist and fantastic caricature artist, soft serve ice cream machine, lots of good food/treats and most importantly...GREAT company!

Here are some pictures from her big day :)
